Since our machine is up and running, we have been spending most of our time now-a-days testing the system and working out the kinks. This is the first major project I have done as an undergraduate where I have had significant time to perform any testing. While this is kind of weirding me out it’s also super nice. Check out the picture of a the F-35C JSF I printed onto a t-shirt this afternoon.
So we did successfully demo our project at Cal Day. However we weren’t able to paint anything due to an issue with the solenoid valve that we had mounted. The valve that we were using had no way to vent to atmosphere. So, when we tried to paint, instead of getting discrete puffs of air, we got a stream of air that trailed off after the valve closed. This prevented us from being able to paint individual pixels.
Tomorrow is Cal Day, and all the good girls and boys(who got into Berkley) are all asleep, eagerly awaiting their chance to tour the greatest campus in the Universe. Of course once they come to Cal, they won’t be sleeping so much anymore. They like us will be working hard, late into the the night to finish their projects.
With the project expo in just a week and a half, our group is busy working hard to perfect our CNC Airbrush Painter.
We have a website!
